Is It Time for You to Buy a New Car?

You may have had your current vehicle for years, and you love it. It's seen you through good times and bad times, through road trip after road trip, maybe even through a cross-country or cross-state move. You have memories in that car, both pleasant and unpleasant, and you thought you'd be together forever.

But that might not be a good idea. Sometimes, it just might be time to move on.

Here, we've put together a number of signs that it might be time to say goodbye to your current vehicle and invest in something new, something more reliable and efficient.

  • The cost of the repairs you need add up to more than the car is worth. This may seem extreme, but it can happen. If your vehicle needs a bevy of repairs to get back on the road, or at least to drive properly, but they cost more than you could get for your trade-in, then it might just be time to give up the ghost and invest in a new vehicle.
  • You're using duct tape or other unnatural means to keep your car together. Is your side view mirror held on using only duct tape and a prayer? Does it seem like your car is more duct tape than car? These are signs that your vehicle might be on its last legs.
  • You're afraid to take long drives because you never know when your car might break down. Nobody can predict the future, but if you're so certain that your vehicle won't make it to Grandma's house that you make your buddy give you a ride, then it might be time to move on.
  • If the car won't reverse or won't go at least the speed limit. These, coupled with other signs, could indicate the need for a new transmission. In the case of your car, that might cost more than the vehicle's value, so consider letting it go and moving on to the next vehicle.

It may be a tough choice for you to make, but it just might be the right one. Choosing a new vehicle can be an exciting time! And you'll get to benefit from the latest safety features and technology that might just help ease the sting of saying goodbye to your old friend.
